The Christmas Dinner for the Home Owners was held on the 13th December and as usual the Dining Room was full. Unfortunately, I’m not allowed to be in the room when the Home Owners or guests are eating – which I think is unnecessary because at home I’m in the kitchen when Mummy and Daddy eat – but never-the-less I have to abide by the rules. So, while I wasn’t able to be present at the Christmas dinner I was able to sample one of the courses because head chef Colin is very good to me and regularly gives me suitable titbits of some of the meals.
The menu for the supper was:
Starter – Curried Fresh Pea and Mint Soup by Roger Vergé
Melon Balls With Winter Berries
Main – Traditional Roast Turkey with all the trimming
Fresh Pasta with Stilton and Mushrooms by Gordon Ramsay
Dessert – Christmas Pudding with Brandy Sauce
Heavenly Lemon Cheesecake by Mary Berry
Everybody enjoyed it, it was followed by entertainment led by Bob, a Home Owner who played the piano and Daddy and the Home Owners wife, Della, sang a duet of ‘Good King Wenceslas’. Daddy has done this at almost all these Christmas Dinners over the 30 or so years.
Perhaps I was lucky being at home, so I didn’t actually hear Daddy sing!
