Residents and Home Owners at Inchmarlo Retirement Village enjoy the best of both worlds – a private, secluded and secure location but with a hive of activity and entertainment.
There is always something happening and something to look forward to on our doorstep, from more active sporting activities such as golf and fishing nearby, to more relaxing activities such as a food tasting evening or piano recital.
Our dedicated activities staff at Inchmarlo plan and organise an ongoing calendar of events for residents of Inchmarlo House and Home Owners on the Estate, featuring a wide range of experiences, some regular and some new. These include music recitals, singing, carpet bowls, tai chi, church services, crafts, games, quizzes, reminiscence, bus outings, therapets, discussion groups, parties and monthly topics.
The calendar is forever changing to accommodate the preferences of our residents and Home Owners. Staff welcome suggestions and are always willing to try new activities. Family and visitors are welcome to join in.
There are a number of annual events which take place on the estate such as Bonfire Night, Car Rally and a garden open day which are very popular with residents, Home Owners and their visitors.
November 5th has become something of a special occasion at Inchmarlo.
Residents and their families can enjoy a bonfire and firework display in a more informal setting with many of the staff at Inchmarlo who volunteer to organise this event each year… weather permitting!
The bonfire itself is positioned in the field in front of Inchmarlo allowing Home Owners and residents of the House to observe from indoors if they prefer.
A hearty and warming bangers and mash supper is served afterwards in the dining room.
The Crathes Vintage Car and Motorcycle Rally is organised by the Rotary Club for charity and takes place annually every May.
About 50 cars participating in the “Road Run” stop in front of Inchmarlo House giving residents and Home Owners the opportunity to enjoy the cars while the drivers enjoy refreshments and chatting to fellow participants and onlookers.
The famous River Dee is a stone’s throw away from the estate.
One of the top four British salmon rivers, the Dee rises in the Cairngorm Mountains and flows for over 80 miles through Aberdeenshire before it enters the North Sea at Aberdeen.
The River is internationally famous for its salmon fishing and especially so for its multi-sea winter spring salmon, with anglers coming from all over the world. It has historically been thought of as the top spring salmon river in the world.
In addition to the increasing run of spring fish, the river also provides some excellent summer fishing for salmon, grilse and sea trout.
The 9 hole Inchmarlo Golf Course, located adjacent to Inchmarlo Retirement Village, opened in April 1997 and offers a challenging test of golf played in some of the most beautiful surroundings of Royal Deeside. Nearby Banchory also has a 18 hole golf course.
In addition to Inchmarlo Golf Centre, there are several outstanding golf courses within an hour’s drive of Inchmarlo including the Trump International Golf Course at Balmedie which has been described as one of the most outstanding golf courses in the world.
