Our Wildlife

Inchmarlo Estate is a treasure trove of natural beauty, boasting an extraordinary array of wild flora and fauna that delights both residents and visitors alike. From rare plants to captivating wildlife, here is a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the splendour of nature. Among the highlights are:

Flora: Rare Greater Butterfly Orchids, wild Bluebells and an enchanting variety of Fungi.
Insects and Amphibians: Vibrant Red Admirals and migrating Toadlets that mark the changing seasons.
Birds: Majestic Grey Herons (who nest and raise young on the estate), tiny Goldcrest, soaring Red Kites, and many others.
Mammals: Badgers, Foxes and Roe Deer wandering through the Estate’s woodlands.
Special Mention: Our cherished Red Squirrels, a symbol of the Estate’s thriving wildlife.

The Inchmarlo Community is passionate about celebrating and preserving the Estate’s natural heritage. Several members actively contribute to spreading knowledge and fostering appreciation for the environment:

Nature Correspondent: Richard regularly shares insightful reports on nature-related topics in our quarterly journal, helping others discover Inchmarlo’s wonders of nature.
Wildlife Watcher: Joe has installed several cameras near his home, capturing remarkable moments of wildlife activity. His website features a library of captivating images such as Pine Martens strolling across his lawn and Blue Tits nesting in boxes, offering glimpses into the vibrant life around us.
